“Can I get your bottle, please” he said, my childhood friend, standing beside me, as I hold the bag, that contained all the bottles we collected since our last walk to the shop
Collecting bottles in the weekend
Watercolor and text by Frits Ahlefeldt
“We would get just enough for a bag of chips in 1976 that way” I said, and remembered through the fog, how they lived just behind the beach in some of the most fancy houses. And we could run down on the beach whenever we liked.
My family lived further inland in the blocks, on the other side of the railroad, in a small apartment, where I would share a room with my two brothers.
The beach was empty now and half hidden in the fog. I sit in the sand and so many memories comes back to me from that beach.
How we would jump in the water and how our parents would tell us not to swallow the water as the sewage was leading out the same place.
The painting won’t dry, I get back on my legs, it can dry in the train, on my way back to the city…
